Published in September 16, 2023, Dr. Susanne Grylka-Baeschlin, Dr. Vanora Hundley, Dr. Mechthild M. Gross, Dr. Patricia Janssen, Helen Spiby, and Helen Cheyne contributed to the Women and Birth Journal's special issue on Early Labour. Pregnant women, labor companions, and midwifery care providers commonly perceive early labor care as unsatisfactory and challenging. Interventions to improve early labor outcomes have shown limited effectiveness. All stakeholders agree that early labor care is under-researched and is a priority topic of investigation.
