Professor and Head of the Midwifery Division and Head of the MSc Midwifery programme
Prof. Dr. Susanne Grylka-Baeschlin, MSc in Midwifery, PhD in Epidemiology, is a Professor and Head of the Midwifery Division and MSc Midwifery programme at Bern University of Applied Sciences. She is also a midwifery researcher at the Institute of Midwifery and Reproductive Health at Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland. She has several years of clinical experience in different labor wards as well as an independent midwife. Additionally, she worked for three years as a research associate on the German part of a European multicentre study. From 2021 to 2024, Susanne Grylka led the GebStart Study, a large multicentre study funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, aimed at developing a tool to support primiparous women during early labour (https://www.zhaw.ch/en/health/health-research-and-development/midwifery/projects/development-and-validation-of-a-tool-for-advising-primiparous-women-during-early-labour-gebstart-study). Her primary research interests include early labour, vaginal birth after caesarean section (VBAC), perinatal care models, postnatal quality of life, and breastfeeding.
