Prof. Dr. Susanne Grylka-Baeschlin, MSc Midwifery, PhD Epidemiology, Professor, is head of the Research Institute of Midwifery and Reproductive Health at ZHAW Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Winterthur. She has several years of clinical experience in different labor wards as well as an independent midwife and worked for three years as a research associate for the German part of a European multicenter study. Since 2016, she is working at the Research Institut of Midwifery at ZHAW. Beside several smaller research projects, she leads the GebStart-Study, a larger multicenter study to develop a tool for advising primiparous women during early labor funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (https://www.zhaw.ch/en/health/health-research-and-development/midwifery/projects/development-and-validation-of-a-tool-for-advising-primiparous-women-during-early-labour-gebstart-study/). Her main research areas of interest are early labor, labor processes, vaginal births after cesarean section, perinatal care, postnatal quality of life and breastfeeding.
