Our goal for graduate students and early career researcher is to develop new collaborations, to consider interdisciplinary approaches, and to develop a commitment to normal birth research.
Collaboration & Community
Graduate Students and Early Career Researchers will:
- join a dynamic, multidisciplinary network committed to advancing the science of physiologic birth
- access a registry of potential supervisors, collaborators and reviewers
- benefit from informal mentorship, peer learning, and exposure to a wide range of research approaches
- engage in regular meetings and discussions with researchers and advocates across institutions
- build their resume by participating and presenting in webinars, fireside chats, meet the researchers, student forums.
- expand their familiarity with theory, research and practice related to physiologic birth from a variety of interdisciplinary perspectives.
Professional Skill-Building
The cluster fosters growth through:
- Workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions focused on research and academic development
- Opportunities to present and refine works-in-progress—papers, presentations, or thesis content—with structured feedback
- Support for positioning research within policy and practice-oriented conversations
Funding Opportunities
Funding opportunities are available for graduate students and early career researchers working on perinatal health and normal birth themes. Awards are assessed on academic merit, relevance to Cluster themes, and quality of the knowledge exchange plan. These include stipends for PhD and MSc studies, research apprenticeships, and travel grants.
