Environmental health is increasingly recognized as a critical factor influencing maternal and infant health outcomes, yet its connection to physiologic birth remains underexplored. Emerging research and interdisciplinary insights are beginning to reveal how environmental exposures—such as air and water quality, heat stress, and chemical pollutants—can affect the physiology of birth and the health of birthing people and infants.
